Riccardo Cattaneo
I’m an Italian photographer from Milan, where I was born and raised. My daytime job is creating pictures and I love it,
but nothing is more satisfying then taking a good photo on the street.
It is the perfect playground to learn how to look at the world, at its actors and their interactions;
it is also the right place to train yourself in reacting quickly and catching the decisive moment;
it is where you can improve yourself in sorting the caos out to pretend we are all living in one same big stage.
A lot of people think that “street” is a proper photographic category with its own rules and conventions but I always considered it as an aptitude,
a beahviour. In my opinion it doesn’t matter if you are shooting on vacation, during a commissioned job or simply taking random pictures of some friends: if you’re doing it with a street aptitude, then you’ll get a street photo.
I strongly believe in cooperativeness as a key factor to become a better photographer, by helping each other in improving.
For this reason, I founded the EyeGoBananas Collective on 2015 with a bunch of great Italian photographers and I also joined as art director the Street Photo Milano Festival project back in 2018.
I’m currently working on some personal projects that probably will never see the light, as always.
