Tag: street photography

Street photography, a genre of photography that records everyday life in a public place. The very publicness of the setting enables the photographer to take candid pictures of strangers, often without their knowledge. Street photographers do not necessarily have a social purpose in mind, but they prefer to isolate and capture moments which might otherwise go unnoticed.

    Born in Spain, living in Scotland. Monserrat Orallo has always had a strong attraction to what people do when walking down the street because she thinks these are the moments when there are no distractions from being yourself and you are simply living in the moment. Her interest in photography started when she was 12, her older sister bought a camera and she used it whenever she had the Opportunities.In 2011, She decided to take photography seriously so she went to College. On the first day of class her teacher gave her a camera and a roll of 36 frames and told her to go into the street to take photographs for the next couple of hours. When she returned, most of her pictures were of people that she had encountered that day and she discovered that photography could be a medium to reflect these brief moments of observation.

    About The Collection

    I wander the street looking for moments of our daily life, the moments that may otherwise go unseen. In these moments I like to explore our ideas of beauty and ugliness, and our perception of what is common and what is unusual. I look for the fleeting moments of social interaction and human behaviour.

    I’m a French Canadian Photographer residing in Nikko, Japan. I consider myself an autodidact who gets inspired by trips, trivial, and events to step out of my comfort zone. I like to use street photography to immortalize energy and emotions from magnificent, human, and comical scenes. When taking photos, I prefer an unobtrusive approach. It helps me to explore how the environment impacts human actions and decisions.

    About The Collection

    For the last couple of years, I’ve been spending quite a lot of time exploring daily life and searching for uniques scenes in one of the most exciting cities in the world; Tokyo. Since my first visit in 2006, the Japanese Capital has always been an endless source of inspiration, and I am very grateful to be able to capture and document it on a regular basis. Armed with my camera, I’ve walked in the streets of Tokyo more than in any other city in the world, and I want to keep exploring its super crowded and popular areas as much as its hidden and unknown district. On the other side, I am also very grateful to be living in the mountains of Tochigi. The World Heritage Site, Nikko’s beautiful nature, and the thousands of tourists coming over every year help me to balance my work as a photographer.
    This collection is a random selection of my favorite photographs taken over the past years in Tokyo and Nikko.

    Riccardo Cattaneo

    I’m an Italian photographer from Milan, where I was born and raised. My daytime job is creating pictures and I love it,
    but nothing is more satisfying then taking a good photo on the street.
    It is the perfect playground to learn how to look at the world, at its actors and their interactions;
    it is also the right place to train yourself in reacting quickly and catching the decisive moment;
    it is where you can improve yourself in sorting the caos out to pretend we are all living in one same big stage.
    A lot of people think that “street” is a proper photographic category with its own rules and conventions but I always considered it as an aptitude,
    a beahviour. In my opinion it doesn’t matter if you are shooting on vacation, during a commissioned job or simply taking random pictures of some friends: if you’re doing it with a street aptitude, then you’ll get a street photo.
    I strongly believe in cooperativeness as a key factor to become a better photographer, by helping each other in improving.
    For this reason, I founded the EyeGoBananas Collective on 2015 with a bunch of great Italian photographers and I also joined as art director the Street Photo Milano Festival project back in 2018.
    I’m currently working on some personal projects that probably will never see the light, as always.

    Eduard Maiterth

    I’m a German street photographer based in Heilbronn, Germany.
    In 2018 I discovered street photography for me, a new world where I can express myself the best. My photography is always candid, mostly spontaneous, still seeking for the right balance between the story, light, composition and framing. It makes me happy, when all these things come together. The symbolic character of streetphotography is for me more important than the documentary one.

    About The Collection

    BUS STOPS
    Nowadays more and more people live in different parallel worlds. This is symbolized with the two layers – the inside and outside of the bus. The microcosmos BUS STOPS is a mirror for our world. We can see lonely people, friends embracing each other, people in thought, people moving in scary places.

    About The Collection

    City Chronicles: Athens
    Athens: The poet Aristophanes * 450 BC  considered it unnecessary to send silver coins to the rich city of Athens. At that time, Greece was the leading culture in Europe. Today, with the help of aid packages and savings projects it tries to get the crisis under control. Tourism should also help. Annually24.8 million tourists come to visit Greece. The main attraction the capital of Athens are the remains of theancient Greece. We visited  the remnants of the ancient as well as the traces of the currently battered Greece.We met tourists, migrants and Athenians who gave us a picture of a city that could not be more contrasting.
    City Chronicles: Madrid
    Madrid. Mainly photographing after dawn and using a rather untypical approach to street photography, where the subject is aware and involved, we created a subjective portrait of the Spanish capital.

    Stuart Paton

    Born in Scotland but now desperately seeking la dolce vita in Milan. My pictures are a bittersweet blend of self-expression and social comment. In times like these, I don’t afford myself the luxury of being a neutral observer or windswept artist.
    I’m spurred on by concerns about the erosion of singularity and de-humanisation; capitalism’s roadkill in the age of post-truth and big data. It sounds a little grandiose I know but it’s my way of killing time.

    I was born in Greece (Larissa) in 1982.
    My inspiration was derived by international professional photographers and the impression of their work that enchanted my mind.
    Intimately familiar taking high quality digital photographs, including framing, selecting and setting up lighting, and determining advanced shutter and lens options.
    Most of my works have Art minimal influences. From the beginning of my photographic career until today, minimalism is an important part in my photography. The winter inspires me.
    I love to photograph the hazy days and especially those with fog. The result is enchanting and so impressive that it evokes a cinematic shot. I love geometry, geometric shapes and cinematic sensation so I can imprint them through my pictures.
